Last week: Lost to Roswell 42-13

Peachtree Ridge Lions (8-AAAAAAA)

Coach: Reggie Stancil

Record: 2-0

Last week: Beat Discovery 34-7

There is plenty to be excited about with the Peachtree Ridge football program, which is coming off a solid win last week over Discovery. The Lions have a chance to go 3-0 for the first time since 2013 — when they started 5-0 — with a victory Friday over Centennial.

Nick Best accounted for three touchdowns (two passing, one rushing) in the Discovery win, while Jacobe Bea had a rushing TD, a receiving TD and three tackles on the kickoff team. Brandon Cade and Brandon Wright also had TD catches.

Peachtree Ridge’s big offensive line, led last week by a 90 percent grade from Amari McNeill and an 85 percent grade from Cade Fox, continues to play well.

Jaylen Madden, Kyle Brown, John Dutton, Carlos Fuller and Nehemiah Laniyonu stood out on the Lions’ defense against Discovery, helping the unit make a big improvement from Game 1 to Game 2.

Centennial will test that defense, particularly the secondary.

“Centennial has some good-looking players on film,” Stancil said. “They have only played one game, but they will be led by Tennessee commit Julian Nixon (a 6-foot-4 wide receiver) and the other 6-3 wide receiver, Drake Mason. Our goal like it has been all year is to continue to get better every week. Our kids continue to work hard every day.”
