Resurgens Orthopedics is pleased to provide sports medicine service to Peachtree Ridge High School. Together the team physicians and athletic trainer strive to provide optimal orthopedic care to all student athletes and their families. We understand how important it is to administration, coaches, and parents that all athletes receive the highest level of care. Resurgens Orthopedics is an Atlanta based orthopedic group made up of orthopedic surgeons and sports medicine specialists. Our football team physician Dr. Scott Quisling is board certified and reflects the highest standard of professional and ethical conduct. Resurgens Orthopedics also provides outpatient rehabilitation dedicated to meeting the therapeutic needs of your active athlete. The physical therapists and athletic trainers work together to return your child to the highest level of competition and prevent future injuries. Our certified athletic trainer, Colleen Butler coordinates the athletic training coverage for Peachtree Ridge High School. Along with volunteer student athletic trainers, Colleen provides full athletic training services for all athletes; including prevention, evaluation, and daily treatment of injuries. Our goal is to treat injuries as thoroughly as possible, returning athletes to competition only when there is minimal risk of future injury.
Dr. Quisling provides medical coverage for home and away football games, as well as weekly examinations after practice for athletes needing physician evaluation. We look forward to growing with Peachtree Ridge and helping your athletes succeed. Click here to learn about Resurgens Orthopedics

Role of the Student Athletic Trainer
Student athletic trainers play a vital role in the success of PRHS football. Each day the students contribute to the preparation of the players before practice by taping ankles, distributing ice and heat packs, cleaning and bandaging wounds, and assisting the head trainer with rehabilitation exercises.
During practice the student athletic trainers keep the players hydrated with water and PowerAde at regular intervals, and help monitor players for signs of dehydration. After practice the student trainers help clean the training room, and assist the certified athletic trainer with daily tasks.
Other responsibilities include equipment maintenance, record keeping, practice time clock operation, and support of the coaching staff in various ways. Most importantly the students gain valuable skills and knowledge of sports medicine in a hands on experience. Students are encouraged to take the sports medicine class offered at PRHS and pursue sports medicine at the next level if they so desire.
Student athletic trainers are an asset to the coaches, certified athletic trainer and the football players at Peachtree Ridge. |
